At The Diabetes Kitchen, our journey began with a deeply personal experience. In June 2013, a close family member was unexpectedly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 19 years old. With no history of diabetes in our family, we were completely unprepared. The diagnosis was overwhelming—and learning how to manage it through nutrition was even more daunting. Suddenly, every trip to the supermarket became a challenge. Frustrated by the lack of convenient, nutritious options for people managing diabetes, we decided to create a solution. That’s how Diabetes Meals Online—now known as The Diabetes Kitchen—was born in 2014.
We’re committed to making healthy eating simple, convenient, and genuinely enjoyable. Using locally sourced Australian produce and cooked in Melbourne, our meals are pressure-cooked in the pouch to lock in maximum nutrition, aroma, and flavour—while naturally extending shelf life without the need for refrigeration. Each meal is carefully crafted to include 2–3 servings of vegetables or legumes, with strict nutritional standards ensuring balanced calories, low added sugar, and controlled carbohydrate and fat levels.
