Our Diabetes Story
At The Diabetes Kitchen, our journey began with a deeply personal experience. In June 2013, a close family member was unexpectedly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at just 19 years old. With no history of diabetes in our family, we were completely unprepared. The diagnosis was overwhelming—and learning how to manage it through nutrition was even more daunting.
Suddenly, every trip to the supermarket became a challenge. We found ourselves reading every food label, calculating carbohydrate percentages, checking for hidden sugars, and trying to make sense of what foods were safe. Finding meals that were both healthy and diabetes-friendly felt nearly impossible.
Frustrated by the lack of convenient, nutritious options for people managing diabetes, we decided to create a solution. That’s how Diabetes Meals Online—now known as The Diabetes Kitchen—was born in 2014.
Since then, we've grown into a trusted meal delivery service for people managing diabetes, offering low-carb ready meals that are dietitian-designed and made with real, wholesome ingredients. Our meals are created to support all types of diabetes, including Type 1, Type 2, and gestational diabetes, as well as those with insulin resistance or pre-diabetes.
We work closely with an expert team of accredited dietitians, diabetes educators, and food technologists to ensure every meal meets nutritional standards while still tasting great. From low-carb casseroles to diabetic-friendly pasta dishes and low-GI options, we’re committed to making mealtimes easier, healthier, and more enjoyable.
At The Diabetes Kitchen, our mission is simple:
To take the stress out of eating for people living with diabetes—by delivering ready-to-eat meals that support blood sugar control, nutritional balance, and long-term health.
We understand the daily challenges of managing blood glucose levels. That’s why our meals are clearly labelled, portion-controlled, and easy to heat and enjoy—giving you more time to focus on living well.
Thank you for visiting The Diabetes Kitchen. Whether you're newly diagnosed or simply looking for a reliable source of diabetes-friendly meals, we’re here to support you with our delicious meals.
