All people with type 1 diabetes are now eligible to apply for access to subsidised CGM and Flash GM products through the NDSS, as well as some people with other rare conditions that are similar to type 1 diabetes.
This means that you no longer have to hold a concession card or be under 21 years old - the subsidised CGM is only $32.50 per month to ALL Type 1's in Australia.
Fabulous and life saving news at last. We particularly thank the Danii Foundation for their tireless work over the last 10 years in campaigning for this life saving device to be available to all.
At approximately $330 per month with no subsidy, this was out of reach for most Type 1's who were over 21 and did not hold any concession card.
So, how to apply? If you already fund your own CGM you can apply directly online here: https://www.ndss.com.au/wp-content/uploads/form-cgm-eligibility-access-type1.pdf
If you haven't used a CGM before you will need to visit your health professional to get help to receive it - note a GP will not be able to help you with. You will need to see your Endocrinologist or Dietitian.
Find out more here. But your health professional will definately be able to help you obtain yours.
